This poem was dedicated to my wife, and best friend. My wife has been childhood friends with my younger sister for 29 years. I always thought her childhood crush on me was cute, and as an older boy paid her no mind. But when she became a woman, I started to see my sisters friend in an entirely new light. We dated off and on through college, always at different stages in our life. After a hiatus we decided to resume casual dating. But I will never forget that day in Lowe's, while perusing the hardware, when I had this compelling urge to kiss her. At that moment I knew, without a doubt, that we were meant to be together. I felt as if my heart burst open with emotion, and I was showered with this euphoria. My path was set. She was the soul mate I had been searching for.

My Destiny

Darkness envelopes me
I lie at the brink of consciousness
And yet, I fell His presence all around
His love permeating my existence
The Master Architect is already at work
His grand design for me is in motion

Bright light, I grasp for air
My body showered with emotions
I am His being
And so, my journey begins
My destiny

The passage of time is fleeting for Him
Yet agonizing to me
I search for something
Someone to fill the void
To complete me
To make me whole as God intended

Two ships on a converging course
Unbeknownst to either
Destined to collide
Each weathers the storm on it's own path
Only he knows the outcome
Will they survive or perish?

Both overcomes insurmountable obstacles
Drawing closer each day
Neither knowing the blessing that awaits
The joy to be gained
The fulfillment to be complete
The life to be lived

Then the tumblers of life click into place
The pieces of the puzzle finally fit
My destiny unveiled
Understanding takes hold
Realization is at hand
The stage set for a new beginning

Two lives thought to be separate
Are now to become one
A covenant to be forged
Like first man and first woman
The flesh of two to become joined
To live out eternity as a single being

We stand before the host
Under the wings of angels
As our Father smiles down upon us
Knowing that nothing on earth can tear asunder
That which is created out of Love
And that we will be together always

Unaware of what events may unfold
But certain that whatever transpires
We will traverse that storm
As a single vessel
Unified in spirit
Our heartbeat a single pulse

Without any other care in the world
Knowing that we are ordained by God
That our union is as He intended
We are His purpose
As long as we are together
Everything else is inconsequential

We sail into our future
Our sight set on the horizon
Anxious to see what tomorrow will hold
Bracing ourselves for what may unfold
Yet, joyous over the realization
That our destiny has been fulfilled
