I wanted my artwork to shift its focus to people who inspire with their visions and through their actions. Who go against the grain of mainstream society to make the world a better place. Some use their gifts as a platform to help enlighten others of the injustices in the world or, to help us forget, for a moment, our own troubles. These personalities are not perfect by any means. They may struggle with transgression like all of us do at times. However, despite their shortcomings they strive toward positive accomplishments. Some feel the anguish of others and, at times may suffer for their beliefs. Not always martyrdom, but someone whose compassion is tied to the despair and pain of those less fortunate.

I hope these images will help educate our children about people in our past and contemporary society who believe in the humanitarian effort. That regardless of age, ethnicity, or gender their efforts were worthy and not in vain. Additionally. I hope that my drawings will be a source of inspiration when reflecting on the subject and their accomplishments.
